Usnea lichen (Tillandsia usneoides)

Alcohol 50%

Distilled water

BENEFITS OF USNEA

-Antiseptic-

Usnea is well known for its ability to work against bacterial and fungal infections within the urinary and respiratory tract due to its usnic acid content.

-Anti-fungal- 

Candida albicans

-Antibiotic-

This lichen is an infection fighter. Unlike most modern antibiotics, which disrupt the structure of a cell, this lichen prevents the metabolism of many bacterias, such as Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Usnea is known to inhibit 16 known gram-positive bacteria (both the resistant and non-resistant strains)

Usnea also contains mucilage, which may be helpful in easing irritating coughs.
